I caught the article when it came out, and I agree that it was a great one. I showed it to Denise, and she was thrilled to have met Sunny and is now reading Sing or Cry, even though I suspect most of the meaning is still a little beyond her

Reading through these poems brings back memories of someone I once knew. This young man met a beautiful young woman and instead of just introducing himself, he wrote a poem and sent her a single flower, a shasta daisy I think. The poem was terribly simple and short. It went something like this: Take this flower and put it in your hair, and think of the man who thought to put it there. The last time I talked to him he thought of himself as a fool for not marrying her and spending his life making their shared dreams come true. Now he just goes through the motions of living and hopes the some day he will again feel the fulfillment that he knew when they were together.

I heard a song last night called "The Usual Way", by a local artist. All I seem to be able to think of today is the Charley Pride song, "Fiftee Years Ago".
