Learn how Paul McCartney at age 15 sang Twenty Flight Rock and joined the Beattles.
This may not qualify as a true appearance, but it's close. An interview with Sunny Bingo, Author of Sing or Cry finally came out in the Idaho Falls Post Register today, January 31, 2007. To read it go to www.postregister.com . It's a great write-up about a great lady. Among other things it provides a lot more detail as to how her song Twenty Flight Rock brought John Lennon and Paul McCartney together. Sunny was just 19 years old and writing under the pseudonym, Ned Fairchild.
In response to Dan and George's recent comments about Sunny's future, I'm sorry to say our plans are indefinite. I thought we would have lots of book store signings lined up by now, and Sing or Cry would be everywhere. But there is one undeniable fact of publishing, even though the reviews were great, and reader comments wonderful, poetry is a hard sell.
We also thought there was a great human interest story in how Sunny's Twenty Flight Rock enabled Paul McCartney to join the Beatles. We've tried repeatedly to contact Paul and even Oprah Winfrey, all to no avail. They keep themselves so well insulated from their fans, it's nearly impossible for some unknown person to reach them, but we haven't given up.
In the meantime, we try to take advantage of every opportunity to promote the book and Sunny. But that too is a challenge. Sunny is no longer the young, energetic person of yesteryear. She stills loves to perform, but doesn't have the stamina to keep it up for extended periods of time.
And sister Tina? She's Sunny's strongest supporter and doing well. I'll keep you posted. And do make comments on the blog site. Sunny enjoys reading them.
What a great celebration yesterday, December 2, 2006. Sunny, sister Teena and good friend David Grimes, played to a full house. There was a lot of toe tapping and even some sing alongs as they played a mixture of Christmas and other music. Sunny's Freddy the Fir Tree and My Idaho were songs that she wrote and sang with a lot of feeling. Merry Christmas everyone!
A number of family and friends came to enjoy Sunny and sister Teena's, songs during the Enchanted Village Craft Show. Sunny and Teena where thrilled to have so many people stop by, greet them and listen to the music. A special "Thank You," to Dan Conrad who came and also commented about his and his daughter's visit. Sunny really appreciate the support of all of the visitors and especially those of you who bought her book, Sing or Cry, and artist enhanced pen and inks reproductions from the book. Hopefully, we can all get together again soon!!
Don't forget the big charity event at Pond's Lodge December 2.

As noted in the Aspen'd Publishing blog site, Nelda "Sunny" Bingo a.k.a. Ned Fairchild will be at the Ashton cattle drive dinner Saturday, October 21. She will share a table with other local authors where she will sell and autograph her book Sing or Cry: My Life in Verse. The festivities start a 6:00 p.m. with dinner followed by dancing. Be sure and join us there!
Sing or Cry, the first signing of Sunny's book, was a historic evening in Ashton. It was the first book signing ever in Ashton's library. Many of the individuals who purchased during the pre-publicity sale came to pick up their books, get them autographed, enjoy the treats and listen to the music. Teena Mandela, Sunny's sister, and David Grimes, a guitarist that formerly played and sang with Sunny, joined Sunny in an evening of entertainment that ranked among one of the best one hour concerts that I have ever heard. My favorites songs were those that Sunny had written that included Twenty Flight Rock, and My Idaho. Thank you Sunny, Teena and David. You were magnificent!!
Yes, Sing or Cry will be in this week! We received the advance copies last week and we think (no we aren't biased) the book is gorgeous. Delivery of books from the pre-pub sale and Sunny's first book signing will be at the Ashton City Library this coming Friday, September 29. It starts at 7:00 p.m. Everyone is invited. Come visit, listen to the music (Twenty Flight Rock will be a part of the festivities), have a refreshment, and get a copy of her wonderful book personalized just for you.
I forgot to mention in yesterday's posting that one of the song's Sunny Bingo, a.k.a. Ned Fairchild, played and sang was Twenty Flight Rock. It was her first big hit that helped usher in the Rock and Roll era. It might not have been quite as glitzy as when Eddie Cochran first sang it, but it was very entertaining. For those of you that have been following these posts, you know she had a birthday August 26. What you may not know is that she is now 77. Congratulations Sunny!
